This is so much like the CEO or the leadership team to a company, to gather and grow the individual exellence into one collective body to produce something much grander.
In the commercial reality, quite a portion of managers seem to keep things as they are, people as they are at for years, sometimes decades!
That said, this is not a matter of right or wrong. Due to our different life paths, focuses and experiences, even if most of us are of similar intelligence, we end up having very different levels of specialisation and knowledge depth in various areas.
Keeping things as it is, is sometimes needed for a company.
