Duty costs and Suppliers mapping

Updated: Mar 27, 2024

1️⃣ Duty costs sanity check

Ever wondered if you have been paying duty costs where you don’t need to?

The following chart illustrates the countries and areas that Australia has Free Trade Agreements with.

Following certain processes that apply to the country of origin, you should enjoy free-duty imports (nuances apply for different contexts).

If you ARE paying duty costs for imports from these countries, you might talk with your forwarder or us to discuss how to claim back as much as possible.

The duty costs wasted could be several hundreds' 000s yearly, for high-end products or big volume importations.

Part of a case I worked on involved stopping and claiming back duty costs paid for furniture imported from Bangladesh.

When the owner was working very hard to stay on top of the cash flow, what complex feelings he had realising the wastes and knowing no need to continue the bleeding from then on…

2️⃣ Suppliers mapping

Similar to the asset allocation for stock investment, as owners or company directors we'd hope to set up a solid and cost-effective suppliers mapping that supports the current running and future development.

Based on the macro environment, costs implications (include duty), the nature of the products as well as the direction of the company, we can intentionally construct the network.

This setting up has far-reaching benefits for both starting out companies, and the established ones that hope to gradually make good sense of things around the supply chain.

Camel cuts short the trial and error probing, we bring effective practices and results that you will see and experience in a short time, with delightfulness. 🤠

No need to pay us a year-by-year salary, yet we will lead or support your team (even if as small as 1 person) to stay on top of the supply chain, as an external supply chain manager/director.

It'll be nice to chat about how we can support. 🤝
