On Nov 13th, Trump named Elon Musk to lead government efficiency drive. Putting aside politics, i think this appointment might work very well.
1️⃣ A great example is Elon Musk’s defying of traditional battery costs, that made Tesla more viable and competitive in the market.
Using ‘first principles’ method, boiling down and reasoning up around a company, helps to understand what is essential and what are actually UNnecessary.
2️⃣ Another case is the rocket production at SpaceX.
Two astronauts are waiting to return home from the International Space Station under one of NASA’s programs. Their initial intended stay was 8 days in June. Now will not return until 2025.
NASA initially contracted with Boeing for their Starliner Spacecraft as the carrier. Due to technical issues, NASA has to go to SpaceX Dragon rocket to rescue the 2 crew, for less risks.
While every one can fail at one time or two, that we need to take growth mindset towards Boeing’s ‘slip’ this time,
A costs comparison of 10: 1 between Boeing and SpaceX, makes one wonder how lean the operations are in making the Dragon rocket at SpaceX, or how bulky the wastes might be on the other end.
◇. ◇. ◇. ◇. ◇.
Elon Musk hasn't been much linked to operations or supply chain among all his achievements, yet on a bigger scale, he really nailed it.
Looking forward to seeing great performance he and his team to deliver in the Government.
Hopefully with money saved, Trump can ease up on the tariff down the track? 😅
